Police are warning people to be vigilant when parking their vehicles in the countryside or in National Trust car parks.

It follows a series of incidents where vehicle windows have been smashed and items such as handbags stolen.

Officers say six vehicles were broken into in the Windrush area earlier today.

PCSO Charlie Symes said: “The incidents left owners with £1000’s in lost valuables and vehicle damage. These locations often do not have CCTV or witnesses.”

“If you park your car in a remote area please do not leave valuables in the vehicle and if you do, do not leave them on display, even if the windows are tinted.”
