Nominations have opened for the Gloucestershire Volunteer Awards 2026, celebrating the community heroes who give their time, energy and passion to make life better across the county.
Now in their third year, the awards aim to recognise the “unsung heroes” of Gloucestershire – from sports coaches and foodbank volunteers to trustees, PTA members, environmental champions and neighbours who are always willing to lend a hand.
Emma Snell, Manager at Go Volunteer Glos, said the awards are a chance to celebrate kindness and community spirit at a time when it is needed more than ever.
“In a world that can often feel chaotic, we are delighted to run the Gloucestershire Volunteer Awards for the third year,” she said.
“It is such an inspiring evening, honouring the unsung heroes of Gloucestershire who are making a real impact in our communities. Each and every volunteer matters – and we want to hear about those remarkable individuals who make the world a better place.”
This year’s awards feature 11 categories, including the Sports Volunteer Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Volunteer Impact Award and Neighbourhood Champion Award. There is also a dedicated category recognising young volunteers, highlighting the contribution made by people of all ages.
Organisers say the awards are designed to honour those who often work behind the scenes, supporting others without expecting recognition – whether that’s mentoring young people, supporting older residents, protecting the environment or organising local community events.
Members of the public are encouraged to nominate individuals or groups whose efforts have inspired them. Nominations can be made online at www.govolunteerglos.org/gloucestershire-volunteer-awards.
Nominations close on 27 February 2026, with the awards ceremony set to take place on Friday 5 June 2026.
Go Volunteer Glos is the county’s digital hub for volunteering, connecting people aged 16 and over with a wide range of opportunities offered by charities and community groups throughout Gloucestershire.
