Most Gloucestershire children get preferred school

Gloucestershire County Council has confirmed that 6,093 children have been offered primary school places for September.

Of those, 98 per cent received a place at one of their preferred schools.

More than 5,600 children – around 92 per cent – were offered their first choice.

Parents who applied online will receive confirmation by email, while others will be notified by letter.

Families have until April 23 to accept their place or request an alternative.

Those who wish can also join waiting lists for other preferred schools.

Officials say parents should accept their current offer to ensure their child has a place in September, even if they plan to request a change.

The council says it will review any reconsideration requests and provide updates in May.

Local leaders say they are pleased that such a high number of families have secured one of their preferred options.
