The Hide Coffee & Tea House
We are Liz and Chloe, your hosts at The Hide. We hail from Southern Africa; one from South Africa and the other from Zimbabwe.
After spending 17 years in the Middle East, we took the plunge in 2017 and moved to Tewkesbury, where Chloe’s family has lived for the past 25 years.
We were both in the corporate world - Liz first in the military and then management training, while Chloe has a background in hospitality. One day our passion for good food, shared with good company, spoke to us so loudly and egged us on to DO IT!
When this building became available, we knew it was the perfect fit for us, and The Hide was born.
We don't have a fixed menu; our dishes change whenever we want to hero a seasonal ingredient or when we are inspired by our Southern African heritage. Sometimes we want to recreate flavours we have sampled on our travels through the world.
No matter what is on the menu, we remain committed to sourcing local goods and produce whenever and wherever we can, and we use these at every opportunity.
Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements, although due to the busy nature of our kitchen, we cannot guarantee the absence of nuts or other allergens.
Our coffee is locally sourced from Stow on the Wold from the smallest commercial roastery in England called STOW TOWN COFFEE. The coffee is ethically sourced and roasted frequently to ensure it's always at its peak flavour. And we know how to get the best flavour out of the beans, whether you choose an espresso, a flat white or a cappuccino.
Our teas are ethically sourced - whole leaf and packed into compostable bags - from a UK company that is equally passionate about good quality teas and being environmentally friendly.
Lastly let's not forget about ROOIBOS tea! This "red bush" tea comes from the leaf of an indigenous fynbos (fine bush) plant grown only in the Cape region of South Africa, and has been drunk as a tea for hundreds of years. Naturally caffeine free this beverage also contains fantastic antioxidants and is is also thought to assist in balancing blood sugar.
